1. Ai chịu trách nhiệm

DROP do đội ngũ DROP (dropitnow.org) phát triển ("chúng tôi").

3. Quyền DROP dùng và lý do

Mua DROP Premium

Bản từ Microsoft Store mua DROP Premium qua Microsoft Store. Việc thanh toán do Microsoft xử lý theo chính sách của Microsoft; DROP không nhận số thẻ hay thông tin thanh toán, chỉ hỏi Microsoft Store xem gói Premium của bạn còn hiệu lực không.

8. Trẻ em

DROP là công cụ làm việc, không nhắm tới trẻ em và không cố ý thu thập thông tin của bất kỳ ai, kể cả trẻ em.

9. Thay đổi chính sách

Nếu DROP thay đổi cách xử lý dữ liệu (ví dụ thêm tính năng đồng bộ qua máy chủ), chúng tôi sẽ cập nhật trang này và ghi ngày hiệu lực mới trước khi thay đổi có hiệu lực.

Summary

  • Your data stays on your PC. Notes, screenshots, videos, recordings, reminders and clipboard history are stored on this computer.
  • No account, no ads, no selling of data. Error reports and anonymous usage statistics are sent only if you agree (DROP asks the first time you open it) - never with your content, and you can turn them off anytime.
  • Network only when needed: checking for updates, and sharing directly with your own devices on your local network when you turn it on.

1. Who is responsible

DROP is developed by the DROP team (dropitnow.org) ("we"). This policy explains how DROP handles your information when you use DROP for Windows.

2. Data DROP stores on your PC

The data below is created by you and is stored only on your computer. We have no server that receives it and cannot see it.

DataWhere it is stored
Notes, Library (links, text, files you save), reminders, note templatesApp data folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\DROP
Screenshots, screen recordings, audio recordingsThe folder you choose in Settings (by default inside your Windows Pictures folder)
Clipboard history (text, links, colors, images, files you copy)%LOCALAPPDATA%\DROP - can be turned off or cleared at any time
Settings, redeemed Premium invite codes%LOCALAPPDATA%\DROP\settings.json
Activity log for troubleshooting%LOCALAPPDATA%\DROP\logs - stays on your PC; reaches us only if you send it when asking for support

3. Permissions DROP uses and why

DROP uses these permissions only when you use the feature that needs them:

  • Microphone: to record your voice when you start an audio recording, or a screen recording with the mic on.
  • System audio: to record what is playing on your PC (for example other people in a meeting) when you choose that source.
  • Camera: only when you turn on the camera during a screen recording.
  • Screen: to capture or record exactly the region, window or screen you pick, when you ask.
  • Clipboard: to keep clipboard history and paste items back. DROP skips content marked as a password or excluded from clipboard history (for example by password managers). You can turn clipboard history off.
  • Notifications: to alert you when a reminder is due.
  • Windows Hello: to confirm it is you when opening a locked note. DROP never receives biometric data - Windows performs the verification.
  • Local network and internet: see section 4.

You can revoke microphone, camera and notification access at any time in Windows Settings › Privacy & security.

4. When DROP connects to the network

Update checks

The version installed from our website periodically checks GitHub Releases for a new version. The request only asks whether an update exists; like any web request, GitHub receives the IP address and basic technical details of the request under GitHub's own policy. None of your data is sent. The Microsoft Store version is updated through the Microsoft Store.

Local network sharing (when you turn it on)

If you pair DROP with another device of yours (for example a Mac), the devices find each other on the same local network and send items directly to each other - no server and no account. Connections are end-to-end encrypted and only accept devices paired into your group. Automatic clipboard sending is off by default; you can turn it on or off per device and remove a device from your group at any time.

Error reports and usage statistics (only if you agree)

The first time you open DROP, it asks whether you want to send error reports and anonymous usage statistics. You can change this anytime in Settings › General › Privacy (two separate switches). If you agree:

  • Error reports (via Sentry): the type of error, where in DROP's code it happened, the app and Windows version, and the language. File paths, user name, computer name and quoted text are removed from error messages before sending.
  • Anonymous usage statistics (via PostHog): action names such as "opened Notes", "captured a region", "created a reminder", which interface buttons are clicked (by DROP's own labels), which settings are changed (not their values), and grouped counts (for example "10-49 notes").
  • Each installation only has a random ID, not linked to any name, email or account. Like any web request, the services receive the request's IP address under their own policies.
  • Where it is stored: error reports on Sentry servers in the European Union (Germany); usage statistics on PostHog servers in the United States.
  • DROP never sends the content of your notes, images, videos, recordings, files, file names, links, clipboard or anything you type.

What DROP does not do

  • Nothing is sent before you agree; turning a switch off stops sending and discards anything still waiting to be sent.
  • No advertising, and no selling or sharing of data for advertising.
  • No fetching of content from links you save in the Library.

Buying DROP Premium

The Microsoft Store version sells DROP Premium through the Microsoft Store. Payment is handled by Microsoft under Microsoft's policies; DROP never receives your card number or payment details and only asks the Microsoft Store whether your Premium plan is active.

5. How your data is protected

  • Notes you lock are encrypted (AES-GCM); the key is protected by Windows (DPAPI, tied to your Windows account) and is only released after you confirm with Windows Hello.
  • Device pairing information and group keys are protected by Windows (DPAPI).
  • All other data lives in your Windows user folders and is protected like your other files.

6. Purchases

DROP is free to use. If you buy DROP Premium through the Microsoft Store, payment is handled by Microsoft under Microsoft's policies; DROP never receives your card or payment details, only whether the purchase is active so the features can be unlocked. Premium invite codes, if any, are checked on your PC.

7. Your choices and deleting data

  • Delete individual notes, Library items, images, videos, recordings and clipboard entries in the app (deleted items stay in "Recently deleted" until you empty it).
  • Delete everything: uninstall DROP, then delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\DROP and the image / video folder you chose.
  • Because we do not store your data on any server, there is no copy on our side to delete.

8. Children

DROP is a productivity tool, is not directed at children, and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

9. Changes to this policy

If DROP changes how it handles data (for example by adding server-based sync), we will update this page with a new effective date before the change takes effect.
